Unit 4 Loving Kindness Excercise

The loving kindness exercise was to help focus on the positive.  I have to admit that I had a hard time focusing on it as I kept thinking about what needed to get done that day or my daughter would interrupt and I would have to start all over and then it was just hard to get back into it.  Listening to it everyday this week didn't help the problem at all.  I read in another post to try listening to it at night before going to bed.  I am going to give that a try to see if it helps me to focus on that instead of what is going on around me or in my own life at the time.

Reflections on a scale of 1 to 10

  1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being?Physically I would give myself a 5 because I am overweight and tend to ignore what that does't to my health and I have high blood pressure. Spiritually I would give myself a 8 I have a lot of faith in the higher power and practice daily prayers and spiritual reading.  Psychological well I will give myself a 5 there as well, there are things in the past that I have buried deep but probably need lots of work to overcome.
  2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological). Physical goal would be to lose 50lbs and get off the blood pressure medicine by the end of the year.  Spiritually I am changing shifts at work in April and will no longer be working every weekend and It would be so nice to return to going to church on a weekly bases instead of whenever I happen to get called off.  Psychologically I have no idea what to do about that because I am of the mind that the past is best left alone (at this point in my life but it is subject to change).
  3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal? Physical-have already started walking daily to help with this goal.  Spirit- like I said going to start back to church regularly when my schedule changes next  month and I cant wait.  Psychological- going to re-evaluate my stance at the end of the year.

Crime of the Century

Hello all,
I hope we are doing great in class, because I know finding the time to do all the homework is a killer.
I got to listen to the Crime of the Century relaxation exercise today and I must say I liked this one better than the last (or I'm learning to relax better while listening), I like using the colors of the rainbow for imaging and focusing.  In the last exercise the bells annoyed me and it was hard to focus.  I like the music in the back ground of this exercise at it is peaceful and smooth leading to a relaxing state.

Reflextive Post about Journey On Relaxation

It took me a little bit to actually relax the bells kept distracting me, so I had to listen to it a couple of times but once I could focus on the voice instead of the bells I actually enjoyed the experience. It was a nice respite in a busy day that I was having and I actually have done it a couple of times during the day when I am home from work. It gives me a nice break, relaxes me, and gives me a refreshed feeling.

welcome and reflective

Good Evening and Welcome to my new Blogger on Goggle.  As I start a new course on well being and total health (mind, body, and spirit), I have come to realize I dont really include my mind in my workouts.  I usually just use the treadmill and walk but I dont really try to meditate or open up my senses to the things around me.  I would really like to try yoga or tai chi as these excercises are truly moving meditation that is ment to expand the mind and explore the things around us.

Thanks for visiting.

Test

This is kinda a test post to see if I actually got this right.
